Equity: a culture of belonging

Our aim is for all learners, members of staff, parents and carers to feel that they belong at Filton Hill.
We do this by looking at our school through the lens of equity. The image below demonstrates the difference between equality (giving everyone the same) and equity (give each individual the support they need to thrive).

At Filton Hill, we are committed to ensuring that all learners, regardless of their background or protected characteristics, are provided with the support and opportunities they need to thrive. We understand the importance of creating a supportive atmosphere that not only respects but also celebrates the unique backgrounds and perspectives of all students and staff. Our goal is to equip every learner with the understanding and respect for diversity, preparing them to be global citizens who appreciate and embrace differences.
Our school, as part of the Olympus Trust are working in partnership with Angie Brown and the 'Being Luminary' program. This means we are developing our practices through evaluation, audits, meetings and surveys with parents, staff and learners.

- Work to raise levels of attainment in core subjects for vulnerable learners.
- Monitor and review levels of parental and pupil engagement in learning and school life, across all activities, to ensure equity and fairness in access and engagement.
